Mijas really is a holiday destination that has everything from Exclusive Department Stores to Parque Aquatico Mijas, a Water Park with attractions that include the Kamakaze and the Wave Pool. The white village of Mijas Pueblo, has possibly been photographed more than any other in southern Spain. It’s Moorish origins are plainly obvious from its layout of narrow streets, lined with pretty white houses. Mijas also features a unique bullring which is oval rather than the traditional round shape. Mijas is a very popular tourist destination, and because it is so easily accessible, many people visit Mijas on a day trip from one of the Cruise Ships that dock in Malaga City. The world-famous tourist destination of Mijas on the Costa del Sol is not only a traditional village of whitewashed houses, perched upon a mountainside with its donkey-taxis but also features Mijas Costa which is a 12 kilometre-long stretch of coast. At the heart of this coastline is La Cala de Mijas with a thriving seaside community known as La Cala de Mijas which features a 6km long walkway from La Cala to Calahonda. Not everyone just wants to visit Mijas Pueblo, many visitors are beach lovers and want to soak up the sun while on holiday. That is where La Cala de Mijas comes into its own. With its soft golden sand, this former fishing village now bustles with life and has a variety of shops and restaurants. It has grown considerably in recent years, and features La Cala Golf Resort as well as La Noria and Calanova Golf Courses. There is even a racecourse which is set to reopen very soon. La Cala also has excellent bus services to other towns along the Costa del Sol and Malaga city. Mijas Costa, as the coastal area of the municipality is known, stretches each side of La Cala and has a variety of smaller beaches and coves which are within easy reach of the residential and holiday developments. These developments include Pinares de Mijas, Myramar, Jardin Botanico and Calanova Sea Golf among many others. The areas of Mijas Costa include El Faro, El Chaparral, Riviera, Calahonda, Miraflores and of course La Cala de Mijas.
